Kemmangundi, Kalhatti Waterfall and Mullayanagiri Peak

This blog is about my 2nd day ride of Chikmagalur series.
On 26 October 2021, yesterday I stayed in the Oye room (Oye is not only for couples, Singles can also stay here). I woke up at 08:00AM then I took bath and at 08:00AM I ready to go. First i thought to go for Mullayanagiri but on the way I changed my decision to go first for Kemmangundi, kalhatti falls and last Mullayanagiri. Finally this is the 2nd day ride plan.
It was my first ride in this route so I used Google Maps for route, Google maps showed mostly gully routes😅 rather than main road after raided 7-8km in gullies I connected to Main road. But this route was not good till I cross the City. After the city road was good and curve roads also started.
Kemmangundi Hill Station
Kemmangundi is a hill station in Tarikere taluk of Chikmagalur district in the state of Karnataka, India. It is 1434m above sea level. This hill station surrounded by Baba Budan Giri hills. When i started to climbing to Kemmangundi on my scooter TVSNtorq125 I am so enjoyed because on both sides of road there are plenty of greenary and Coffee plantation with this beautiful nature curved roads gave extra joy to the riders like me who like the curve roads.
On the way to Kemmangundi we can saw several waterfalls with pure water which are flow from top of the hill station.

There is also historical background to this place Mysuru wodeyar dynasty's Krishnaraja Wodeyar lV used this as the summer retreat and as a mark of respect to the king, it is also known as Krishnarajendra Hill station.
When I reached the top of the Kemmangundi i am so happy because it was my first ever ride to top of any hill station on my TVS Ntorq125 I really enjoyed it. There was a small park on Kemmangundi view point.
There is a falls near Kemmangundi named as Hebbe falls but unfortunately I didn't visit that falls due to time shortage. After this I started to travel towards Kalhatti falls.
Kalhatti WaterFall
Kalhatti waterfall located in Tarikere Taluk of Chikmagalur District in the Karnataka state. The waterfall is 10km from Kemmangundi and we need to take upleft when we go for Kemmangundi. It is the beautiful small waterfall where water is flow from hill station through Kalhatti Veerabhadreswara Temple. Here I spend only 10 minute because lots of tourists came to this place and this covid situation most of the people didn't wear the mask.

Mullayanagiri Betta(Hill Station)
Mullayanagiri hill station is the Karnataka's highest peak with 1,930 meters(6,330 ft) located in the Chandra Drona Hill Station of the Westren Ghats of Chikmagalur Taluk. The summit of Mullayanagiri has a small small temple and houses a police radio relay station. I started to climb Mullayangairi at 05:00pm so that I feel heavy cold and lot of fog. In this first ride only I climbed this highest peak for many of people it is the dream place. Here roads are very small only one car and one scooter can travel at a time side by side but when during climb we can got amazing views.

Because of name of sage 'Mulappa Swamy" who is believed to have meditated at the caves only a couple of feet below the summit, peak gets the name as Mullayanagiri. The caves are accessible and not very deep, they have a direct entrance to the grabagudi of the temple, which is now blocked by the temple priests.

How to reach:
1. How to reach by Road
Most of the tourist came on their own vehicle, Chikmagalur is the nearest city from this you can get a taxis or bikes for rent. No Government bus facility for these 3 tourist palces.
2. How to reach by Train
Birur and Kadur railway stations are the nearest railway station for these 3 Places, from this you can get a taxis.
3. How to reach by Air
Mangalore Airport is the nearest Airport for these places. This airport is well connected with the Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi and other major cities of India. From Mangalore you can get a buses to Chikmagalu or taxis.
Best Time to Visit
Monsoon season is best season for these 3 places, because clouds will enhance the beauty of the nature.
Anyhow from June to January is the best time to visit.
